In a world that may sometimes feel a little crowded and mass produced, Olepangi Farm is a haven of space, beauty, long views and farm-to-plate organic food. We are a family run and family hosted little gem nestled in the foothills of Mt Kenya, our award-winning lodge and 120-acre horse farm sits in the shadow of Mt Kenya and adjacent to the millions of acres of wildlife conservancies to the north.

A collection of just five delightful cottages and a private house, provide endless opportunities to relax, reconnect with nature and the special people in your life. Ride a horse, play croquet, walk in the community or venture out and explore the area’s abundance of natural beauty and wild spaces.

With easy access to the Lolldaigas, Ngare Ndare forest reserve and its blue pools, Samburu National Reserve, climbs on Mt Kenya or the sacred flat-topped Ololokwe, you’ll be spoiled for choice. Though, it’s true, we find the favourite activity by far is . . . the “do nothing” option.

Our cottages and communal spaces are adorned with colonial antiques, fine old Persian carpets, original paintings and collectible objects, plus super-comfortable, four-poster beds dating back to the British Raj, our own personal collections from a lifetime of travel. Loose yourself in our extensive library and perhaps find that book you’ve been meaning to read.

With some of the best weather in the world and clear highland air means that our guests always sleep very well indeed at Olepangi Farm. We are Elizabeth and Clinton Lucy, owners and founders of Olepangi Farm. We started this project with a beautiful, but largely bare and undeveloped piece of land.

We admit to being “city slickers and corporate types” by birth. Olepangi Farm is, for us, a labour of love and constant source of inspired experimentation: from tree-planting (4,500 to date) to grassland renewal, to planting fruit trees, to water management and growing our own vegetables and cut flowers for the lodge. Our long-term aspiration is “to create a community in which we want to live”.

We are always excited about the idea of guests spending longer periods of time at the farm with us, whether to write that book you’ve always longed to or pick up your paints once again, escape the winter or simply to reconnect with yourself. Many of our guests stay for months! and then come back again. We say, “Stay two nights or stay a lifetime . . . it’s all possible in this little piece of paradise.”
