National cereals and Produce Board is a State Corporation that was established in 1985 through an Act of Parliament (Cap 338). It is a Statutory Board under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Cooperatives. It was formed by the amalgamation of The Maize and Produce Board and The Wheat Board on 1st July 1979.

National cereals and Produce Board trades commercially in grains, provides grain post-harvest services, deals in fertilizer and other farm inputs like seeds, and offers clearing and forwarding services. It is an agent of the Government in the procurement, management, and distribution of Strategic Food Reserves (SFR) and Famine Relief Stocks.

A Hub is a centre of business activities which operates as a one stop shop where various products and services are offered to customers. The NCPB Trading division is operating an agricultural hub model which involves registration of stakeholders such as farmers, cooperative societies and Agrodealers who aggregate around warehouses.
