Checkout Makini Schools Kisumu Watch Video

Makini Schools Kisumu was founded in February 1978. It was then called the Riara Gardens Academy and began as a nursery school with just 8 children. This was in a colonial bungalow where once lived the founders, the late Dr. Pius Okelo and Dr. Mary Okelo.

Makini Schools Kisumu then organically grew in phases and by 1980 another plot was bought across the Kirichwa River. In 1981, the name was changed to Makini Schools. In 1996 the high school was opened enrolling 27 boys in Form 1. The following year, it admitted girls.

Currently, the school has four campuses: the Ngong Road (mother) campus and the Makini Junior Academy on State House Avenue in Nairobi; Makini Junior School Migosi and Makini School Kibos in Kisumu. On its 40th anniversary in 2018, the school was acquired by Scholé International, who are managing the school and have brought in global best practice while maintaining the Kenyan curriculum with the aim of making Makini a world class school.
