Lions High School is found in Kisumu central sub-county, Kisumu County along Kisumu-Nairobi road (Lat.: -010782; Long.: 34.76816). It offers O’Level education under the 8-4-4 curriculum and was founded in 1980 as a public single stream mixed school by Lions Club of Kisumu and Municipal Council of Kisumu.
The school is sponsored by the Lions Club Kisumu Host and run by a Board of Management – Chaired by Lion Damji P. Mandavia – assisted by the Parents Association. In recent times the school has rapidly expanded to a total of 17 streams with a student population of over 1200 students of balanced gender population.
It has a staff composed of 33 TSC teachers, 6 BoM teachers and 22 support staff. A modern administration block, kitchen, hall, laboratories, computer lab and tuition blocks are available and continuously improved to accommodate the ever expanding student population. Students have up to 15 subjects to choose from and this has enabled them gain entry to highly competitive courses and careers.
The school has adequate co-curricular support activities and facilities making it honoured in fields of film, music and drama. Being chosen as an Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) model center in Nyanza region by Ministry of Education Has further enhanced our standing as a school in the region.
