Kenya Red Cross Society – Machakos (KRCS) was established on 21 December 1965 through the Kenya Red Cross Society Act. The organization’s constitution is based on the Geneva Conventions of 1949 and the Additional Protocols of 1977 to which Kenya is a Party.
Kenya Red Cross Society Machakos is a national society of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, created by the Act of Parliament of Kenya.
We are a Branch of the Kenya Red Cross National society, Lower Eastern region Humanitarian/development oriented focusing on the most vulnerable and always there.
Our History
The National Society was officially recognized by the Government in the Kenya Red Cross Society Act (Chapter 256 Laws of Kenya) as a voluntary aid Society auxiliary to the Public Authorities in the humanitarian field, in accordance with the 1949 Geneva Conventions, and as the only National Red Cross Society which carries out its activities in the Kenyan territory. In relation to Public Authorities, the Society maintains an autonomy, which allows it to act at all, times in accordance with the Fundamental Principles of the Movement.

We facilitate communities to respond to humanitarian emergencies to alleviate human suffering and work with partners to implement innovative community driven programmes that transform lives and enhance community resilience.
