Kenya Institute of Development Studies is a middle level training institution founded on strong belief of capacity through imparting practice knowledge and skills to spur economic and social growth. The institution evolved from social economic consult, a consultancy that has been carrying out research on developing issues. he idea of setting up a training center came up after research revealed a huge gap on middle level development agents.

A huge number of qualified students are locked out of the institutions of higher learning due to limited facilities. It was felt that there was a need to set up a middle level training institution to produce a skilled workforce in development ventures. This idea gave birth to Kenya Institute of Development studies. Within the first year of operations KIDS have cut its niche as a center of excellence due to quality training and superior administration. We have managed to build trust among government and other stake holders who have officially recognized our work. This confidence within has made the institute attract students from the entire region.

Currently we have students from Kenya, Sudan, Eritrea, Somalia, Uganda, Nigeria and Rwanda. number of mainstream international NGOs have forwarded their employees for further training; cementing the recognition of our program-mes. We believe in Admitting Qualified Students, delivering excellent training, remain relatively affordable & produce all round graduates who are able to respond to challenges we are facing as society.
