Kenya Airways – This is the leading continental privately managed group of companies in aviation spreading in East Africa region and growing beyond. Its main business are in passenger transportation, cargo transportation, holidays management, Ground handling, aeronautical maintenance and aviation training.

Kenya Airways, a member of the Sky Team Alliance, is a leading African airline flying to 51 destinations worldwide, 43 of which are in Africa and carries over three million passengers annually. It continues to modernize its fleet with its 32 aircrafts being some of the youngest in Africa.

This includes its flagship B787 Dreamliner aircrafts. The on-board service is renowned and the lie-flat business class seat on the wide-body aircraft is consistently voted among the world’s top 10.

A Strategic Review on the long term survival of Kenya’s aviation industry and Kenya Airways pointed to the need for the development of a holistic strategy. The strategy, which was later developed as a proposal – The Privately Initiated Investment Proposal (PIIP) will create operational synergies between Kenya’s main hub and the national carrier, thereby facilitating the airport and airline to become economic growth drivers.

This is an opportunity for the growth of both Kenya Airways (KQ) and Kenya Airports Authority (KAA).
