St John Ambulance Nakuru Claimed
Since its creation in 1923, the St John Ambulance (Nakuru) has remained true to its sole purpose of saving lives by giving first aid to casualties, training communities and ambulance service to cope with life threatening emergencies.
The Organization came into being in Kenya at the initiative of the then Police Commissioner Sir Cavendish, who doubled up as the first St John Commissioner in the country in 1923.
Cavendish then lobbied police officers to join the charity whose sole purpose was to save lives by giving first aid to all wounded officers.
St John Ambulance (Nakuru) then operated as unit of the Kenya Police until 1928 when it became a civilian organization recognized as part of the global network of the Order of St John.
