Ol Talet Cottages – Chema Katua and his wife Priscilla always desired to own a holiday home.
Although they were optimistic that their dream would one day come true, the search for a perfect location for the home had become elusive.
Determined, Chema went looking for the owner of the parcel of land overlooking the eatery and with the help of a friend, bought a 10-acre piece of land in 1995.
More than 15 years later, the Katuas have turned the idle land marked with scattered shrubs and hills into a perfect holiday home.
Ol Talet – meaning view point in the Maasai language is the name he gave to their three bedroom house on the hill top, with a great panoramic view of the whole of Ngong and the hills beyond and also valleys below.
Standing on the wooden deck at Ol Talet cottages, one is able to spot a few cars snaking their way to Olepolos for an afternoon of nyama choma.
Perfect cooling spot
The place is quiet. The only sound one hears from time to time is the calming breeze blowing through the wide windows.
The living room is bright with natural light from the scorching sun outside. The plunge pool a few metres from the Katuas’ holiday home provides a perfect cooling spot.
