Diani Backpackers was born under a slightly different name all the way back in 2012 and the hostel has changed owners a few times. The hostel has since grown from 14 dorm beds and 2 private rooms to 44 dorm beds and 13 private rooms. But through the changes and growth the place has gone through, the heart and soul have always stayed the same. Diani Backpackers is a place where travellers from all over the world get together to meet, eat, drink, party, explore and make amazing memories!
Diani Beach is a must-visit destination on your next adventure! It’s not just one beach, but an interconnected stretch of beaches that will take your breath away.
The two main beaches here are Diani and Galu Beach – together, they create a stunning 15km expanse of powdery white sand.
Galu Beach is the perfect spot. And that’s where you’ll find us, Diani Backpackers. When you stay with us, you’ll be just a few minutes’ stroll from the beginning of Galu Beach.
Diani has everything a backpacker could need, from supermarkets and coffee shops to bars, restaurants, and even banks. And don’t forget the curio shops, where you can pick up some souvenirs to remember your trip. If you need any advice on where to go or what to see, just stop by reception and ask our friendly staff – we’re here to help!
But let’s talk about the star attraction: the beach itself. The sand here is unlike anywhere else in the world. It’s blindingly white, ultra-fine, and at low tide, can stretch up to 150 meters wide. The beach is protected by a shallow lagoon and a coral reef, which sits about a kilometer from the low water mark. This not only provides protection from the ocean, but creates ideal conditions for swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, and a host of water sports, like kite and wind-surfing.
