Operations
To ensure consistent supply of quality and safe fish to the SMEs and ultimately the end consumers a 20 Tonnes production capacity ice plant has been located at Lodwar town which produces ice that is neededfor preservation of fish in the fishing ground, at the beaches and during transportation to the market. The ice is loaded in insulated/refrigerated trucks and then transported to the fish landing sites around the lake for use in the preservation of fish during harvesting and storage.
Migingo has so far established a cold chain system supporting fish distribution to over 14 counties in Kenya through more than 2,000 women and youth SMEs. Through our centralized cold storage and distribution network we have been able to supply quality and safe fish for human consumption.
